-back to the basics-

It’s been a HOT minute since I’ve blogged. Two years, if we’re actually counting (other than this piece I guest-blogged for Women Writers, Women Book (s).

Side bar, I’m writing this over a not-very-hot cup of joe in a coffee shop, and wondering if I should say something. I didn’t order an iced-coffee, btw. I wanted a steaming cup of coffee.

Hard to imagine, blogging was once the very essence of what I did. I’m not going to lie: I miss it. I grieve the days of reading blogs and sharing my opinion while writing them. A reader at heart, the written word is how I like to take in knowledge and maybe give a little bit of it…alas, now we have the tok and the gram to share all our pretty videos and pics.

With no theater bones in my body, I can’t seem to nail down the Tok videos of me looking seductively at the camera and telling a story with my eyes, so here I am, BACK TO THE BASICS.

Fully realizing, no one may read and/or see this, I still felt the need to share my voice. Maybe I will start a sub stack? Until then, here is the 411 on me. After TWENTY {20} books published and TWO {2} box sets, I can’t keep up with all the nuances of selling a book. It’s an endless stream of courses—marketing, advertising, tik-toking, newsletter management, to name a few—and the strategy switches more than I change nail color.

Don’t worry, I’m not quitting and I will GET back on the proverbial horse and do $hit the professional way next time, but for book TWENTY-ONE {21}…it’s just going to release sometime soon. This go-around, my nerves are on a different stratosphere and then there is the worry of a lot of money spent toward ads or tours or signings when the ‘Zon switches algorithms because of a PRIME thing or maybe the world is afire or I don’t know what (Amazon doesn’t approve an ad because of a cover), but I could flush my dollars down the toilet more effectively. I’m rambling…

WHY this book? This story started as part of an anthology, and I had the first third professionally edited and proofed, and then for reasons out of my control, the anthology was cancelled. I know—that was a long run-on. Needless to say, I’d spent a lot of my time on the story, and fell in love with the characters, as did many of you, who received the early story for FREE on my website. Daniel and Wren deserved their second chance, and I wanted to give it to them.

So, I poured more money and time into finishing. Additional editing, proofing, a cover, and formatting, and here we are with a finished product. After two years, BIRDIE was READY to go, and I’m not waiting or planning or plotting.

And I’m not even pretending that I don’t NEED A BREAK, ya’ know? AND I love this book, and I want you to have it…so, it’s coming.

FYI, here is the gorgeous cover and the link to add this cutie to your TBR {here}. Get ready, because this is the sweetest story I’ve ever written, and it’s hard not to fall for this golfer…

Thanks for reading or skimming, and I wish everyone would read this story! Oh, it will be at discounted price and available in KU!!

Until next time, R
